Massawa is an idyllic and peaceful coastal area in Eritrea by the Red Sea. It exudes a kind of appeal similar to Zanzibar and it is also a place where you can see Islamic influences. You can just lounge around, relax and enjoy the fantastic view of the Red Sea coast or maybe go further into the sea to the Dahlak archipelago where you can find amazing ruins from the 8th century.
