WHAT:
Special media access to the world-famous large cargo freighter.  An opportunity for media to tour the famous Dreamlifter, take photos and interview respective parties in the operation.

The Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter (LCF), now known as the Dreamlifter, a specially modified airplane, will transport major components of the all-new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.  Two of four Dreamlifters are currently flying and one of them will make a special visit to the Portland Airport.

The Dreamlifter is a modified 747-400 with an enlarged upper fuselage, an aft fuselage that swings open for loading and unloading of Dreamliner sections, and a vertical fin increased in height by five feet.  The first two Dreamlifters are transporting 787 sections from Ital, Japan, South Carolina and Kansas to Boeing’s assembly plant in Everett, Wa.

Evergreen International Aviation and the Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter (LCF) The Dreamlifter:

In Dec. 2005 Evergreen International Aviation was selected to operate and maintain the Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter (LCF) fleet, now known as the Dreamlifter.  The specially modified plane will transport major components of the all-new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.  Evergreen has been selected as the Prime Contractor to operate, maintain and support these aircraft.  Contract life is 20-25 years (the life of the 787 program).

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, located across from the Evergreen International Aviation headquarters in McMinnville, Ore. is home to the famous Spruce Goose, the famous flying boat with the largest wingspan of any aircraft ever built.  With a wingspan of 319 feet, 11 inches the 1940’s era Spruce Goose still exceeds the Dreamlifter’s wingspan of 211.5 feet.
