Timbuktu is always clichéd as a land far away. The fact is that it is an actual location and a UNESCO heritage site for that matter. It is located by the Niger river by the edge of the Sahara. It was once a rich camel route and it once flourished with the most successful empires in the world. Though it is a sleepy shadow of its past glory, travelers still desire to reach this place.
