As much as England is very modern and of course, saturated with art, culture and modernity, it is fun to look at England as with Nottingham with the Sherwood Forest and tall tales ab out the fabled hero, Robin Hood. York is also a really fun place to visit if you like something more ancient like those old medieval cathedrals as well as remains of Viking and Roman settlements. You might also want to do some ghost walks.
