This is the largest city in the Amazon region and it is where the waters from Rio Negro meet with Rio Salimoes that forms the Amazon proper. It has some really beautiful architecture based on French buildings like the Teatro Amazonas that was derived from French architecture. You can also enjoy jungle trips into the rainforest.
